Rant: Its Not Just You Anymore!
Ok, I’m not perfect, and I know I have made my mistakes in life as well. But I feel you should learn from your mistake ASAP so as not to make them twice.
When you can’t make it to a show, give AS MUCH NOTICE AS POSSIBLE!
Some promoters, bookers and agents have to prepay for shows they book! Others have to eat crap from the venue because you didn’t show up or promote!
If your not sure if you can take the gig, turn it down! There will be more in the future!
When a band starts gigging, often they are only thinking about themselves. When you play in a gig, its more than just the band involved! There is the venue, the promoter/booker and often other people whos butts are on the line for that night!
This is the real world! You have to keep up on your game!
If you have to cancel a show, than do it early, when you first have an idea that it might not work out!
If you don’t think you can bring any fans, tell the promoter or venue that ASAP! so they can make up for lost time!
If you want to earn the respect of venues, and other entertainment industry professionals, you have to be prompt, and you have to communicate! Its ok if something goes wrong, as long as you don’t screw everyone else in the process.
Communicate creates your reputation, and word travels fast! So make sure your on your game!
